The Assiniboine Cougars women’s hockey team have won the ACHA D-II National Championship with a thrilling 1-0 victory over the Minot State University Beavers. Simone Turner-Cummer scored the games only goal in the first period in leading ACC to the title. Marley Quesnel picked up the shutout in net for ACC.
In semi-final action Saturday, the Cougars advanced to today’s final in Texas after defeating the back-to-back defending champion Lakehead University by the score of 2-1. Simone Turner-Cummer scored both goals for the Cougars to help them punch their ticket into today’s Championship tilt.
