Brandon Police: Man unloading gun accidentally shoots girlfriend

At 8:05 am Saturday morning, Brandon Police attended a residence in the north end for a report of a gunshot.  A 25-year-old female was located with a gunshot wound to her leg.  A 29-year-old Brandon male was arrested and confirmed that he was trying to unload a shotgun when it went off striking his girlfriend.  Both parties involved indicated that the shooting was accidental.  A bolt-action 12-gauge shotgun was located by police and seized as evidence.  The male was released from custody and will appear in court in January.  Information about the medical condition of the victim is not available at this time.
