Break and Enter to Business – Suspect Arrested

On May 8, 2023 at approximately 4:46 am, police received a report of an alarm sounding at a business in the 100 block of 7th street.  When police arrived, they could see an unauthorized individual inside through a window.  Members from general patrol contained the business, while a member of the Police Service Dog Unit was called to search for the suspect within the building, as it was quite large. The 28-year-old male suspect was located in the basement and arrested. Investigation revealed he forced his way in through a window. The suspect was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Break and Enter with Intent.

Disturbance Results in 3 Arrests

At 8:30 pm, Police attended to a disturbance call in the 100 block of 16th St. Police located a 29 year old female and a 33 year old male who were both on conditions not to have contact with each other. Both subjects were arrested. Another 30 year old female was dealt with who had an outstanding warrant for Theft Under $5,000 who was also arrested and later released on an appearance notice

“CRIME STOPPERS WANTED” for: May 5th, 2023 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE”: Matthew BOUTILIER FOR Assault with a Weapon, Forcible Confinement, Unlawful in a Dwelling House & Party to the Offence of Sexual Assault. On April 29th, 2023, Matthew BOUTILIER entered his ex girlfriends residence without her permission and assaulted her with a pair of scissors. While in the residence, a male unknown to police arrived and BOUTILIER directed him to sexually assault his ex girlfriend. Police have been unable to locate and arrest BOUTILIER for his involvement. A warrant of arrest has been issued for Matthew Micheal BOUTILIER as his whereabouts are unknown at this time. CRIME OF THE WEEK for May 5th, 2023 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a; Break & Enter On May 3rd, 2023, at approximately 3:45 A.M. a male carrying a backpack, wearing a dark blue hoodie and black pants smashed the glass front door of a Brandon business, located in the 700 block of Victoria Ave East. The suspect caused damage inside the business and stole cigarettes before fleeing. Break and Enter – Two Suspects Arrested

On May 3, 2023 shortly before 7:00 am, police responded to a report from a homeowner in the 500 block of 7th street that an individual had broken in and locked themselves into a utility/storage room. When police arrived, they discovered two individuals who had broken in. The 40-year-old male resisted police efforts to arrest him. Once he was arrested, he was found to be in possession of a large knife, a steel pry bar and a number of other break in tools. The 25-year-old female suspect was arrested without incident. The investigation also revealed that the suspects caused damage to the doors and electrical wiring. The suspects were lodged at Brandon Police Service. The female suspect was to abide by conditions not to communicate with the male suspect. She appeared in court on charges of Break and Enter Commit Mischief and Fail to Comply with Release Order. The male suspect appeared on charges of Break and Enter Commit Mischief, Possess Break in Tools, Possess Weapon, and Resist Arrest.

Break, Enter and Theft – UPDATE 4 Guns located

Original release from May 2, 2023: On May 1, 2023, police responded to the 800 block of 2nd Street for report of a break and enter to a residence. The property owner reported that his truck, camper, and detached garage had been entered between 11pm on April 30th and 7:30am on May 1st, 2023. A gun safe had been entered and nine firearms have been reported stolen. Police are continuing to investigate. UPDATE: On May 2, 2023 at approximately 5:00 pm, police responded to a report of long guns located within another yard on the 800 block of 2nd street. Police attended and recovered four guns, which were confirmed to be amongst those stolen from the Break and Enter reported on May 1, 2023.  This discovery also led police to learn that property such as two bicycles had been stolen from other neighboring properties in the same time frame as the B&E.  The remaining stolen guns are still outstanding.
