Crosswalk Collision: Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Morning Incident

On July 7th, at 6:45 a.m., BPS and Brandon Fire & Emergency Services (BFES) responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at a marked crosswalk in the 1900 block of Richmond Avenue.

The investigation has determined that a 16-year-old female was proceeding northbound in the marked crosswalk when she was struck on her left side by an eastbound vehicle travelling in the median lane. The 16-year-old female sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was later transported by air ambulance, along with her mother, to Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg. Her mother has advised the media that her daughter sustained numerous broken ribs, a broken pelvis, lacerations, among other injuries.

The 38-year-old female driver was transported to BPS, and the vehicle involved was seized as part of the investigation. The investigation remains ongoing.
