Citing the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic, Dakota Nation Winterfest 2021 has been cancelled. The announcement was made on their Facebook page earlier in the week. The announcement also stated “Notifications have been sent to the City of Brandon, the Keystone Centre and the Canad Inns.” Billed as the largest Indigenous sport and cultural event of its kind all under one roof, the event has a long standing tradition in Western Manitoba. The festival encompasses activities and events for all age groups including a square dance competition, talent show, wacipi, basketball, volleyball, hockey, moccasin games and more.
