At 7:50 pm, an officer observed a 1-ton pickup driving erratically on 18th St near Richmond Ave. The vehicle eventually crashed into a sign at 26th St and Willowdale Crs and the driver fled on foot. He apprehended a short distance away. The driver gave a false name initially and displayed signs of impairment by alcohol. His identity was confirmed and he was arrested for Impaired Driving. After breath test readings over twice the legal limit, the driver was lodged to be remanded on Thursday morning. The truck was reported stolen from a gas station on Lyndale Drive. The accused, an 18 year old from Brandon, has been charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Public Mischief, Impaired Driving, Drive over 80 mg% and Breach of a Recognizance.
