Shortly after 5:40pm this evening, Oakland/Wawanesa Fire Department along with Green Acres Hutterite Colony responded to a structure fire north-west of Wawanesa off of Highway 453.
Fire crews arrived to find a machine shed structure fully involved with fire, along with some grass/brush on fire in the area. Fire crews were able to put the brush fire out without it extending to any other structures, and contain the fire in the machine shed to the structure itself. A porta-tank was set up so that a pumper could draft water into hoses for firefighters.
Oakland/Wawanesa Fire Department, Green Acres Hutterite Colony, RCMP, Office of the Fire Commissioner and Manitoba Hydro attended the scene.
