Trade, Retirement and Coaching Changes Highlight Busy Week for Wheat Kings

The offseason has already proven to be anything but quiet for the Brandon Wheat Kings. In a span of just a few days, the organization made significant changes both on and off the ice as preparations continue for the 2026-27 WHL season.

The biggest roster move came with the acquisition of defenceman Josh McGregor in a trade aimed at strengthening the Wheat Kings’ blue line heading into next season. McGregor is expected to bring added stability and experience to Brandon’s defensive corps as the club looks to build momentum following last year’s campaign.

While the addition of McGregor gives the team a boost on the ice, the organization also announced a notable departure as veteran forward Easton Odut revealed his retirement from hockey.
