The Brandon Wheat Kings have shipped 18-year old left-winger Jonny Hooker to the Prince George Cougars in exchange for forward Reid Perepeluk. From tonight’s release ““We’ve addressed a need to add a right winger, who plays with a purpose,” says general manager Darren Ritchie. The Wheat Kings are hopeful to have the 6’3” 215 lb Perepeluk in the lineup Friday night when they host the visiting Red Deer Rebels.
Earlier in the day the Wheat Kings made another transaction when they reassigned rookie defenceman Jack Zayat to the to the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
Both transactions come on the eve of Friday’s WHL Trade Deadline which arrives Friday, January 10 at 3 p.m. MT.
