Police charge man with firearms offences

On February 10, 2021, police responded to multiple reports of a male shooting a gun in the in the area of Baker Bay shortly after 6:00 pm. Witnesses observed a male with a handgun running away from the area. Police located and arrested the suspect within minutes. He was still in possession of a CZ-74 handgun and ammunition. Nobody was injured because of the shooting.
An investigation into the incident revealed that the suspect confronted an individual with the gun, but the individual was able to enter their vehicle and drive away. The suspect fired the gun towards the vehicle, striking it. The driver of the vehicle lost control shortly after leaving the area and struck a tree. The vehicle was towed for further investigation. The suspect and the driver are not known to one another.
The suspect, a 35-year-old male, was held in custody and appeared in court in the afternoon of February 11, 2021 on 14 firearm and weapon offences. He has been remanded in custody.
