The Ashley Neufeld Softball Complex will be a hub of activity this upcoming weekend as many of the top senior fastball players in the province will be taking to the field at the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation’s men’s and women’s fastball tournament. Event organizer Thommy Rosmus told bdnmb.ca that currently 14-men’s teams and 6-women’s teams are already registered and he is hoping to add 2 more female teams before the weekend’s activities gets underway.
The tournament will feature a large number of teams from Manitoba, however he does have a couple of teams from Saskatchewan and one from Ontario taking part. Rosmus pointed out that he expects the caliber of play to be extremely high, noting top pitchers like Bo Thomas, Nick Patrick, and Jordan Hudson are all expected to participate. The men’s champion will take home $4,000 for their efforts.
