Pursuit – Firearms Seized
Brandon Police Service Media Release
On May 10th 2017, Brandon Police Service members received a notification to be on the look for a Black Audi vehicle with a Saskatchewan license plate. A caller indicated witnessing a male punching a female in this vehicle while it travelled southbound on 1st street. Police attended to the area however were not able to locate a vehicle matching this description. Several hours later, officers received information that a male was operating a Black Audi SUV with Saskatchewan license plates and possibly in possession of a handgun. In the early morning hours of May 11th, Police located an unoccupied Black Audi SUV with Saskatchewan license plates in a parking lot of a Hotel in the 200 Block of 18th Street North. Police investigation led to identifying the operator of the Black Audi and Police records checks showed the male from Saskatoon to have a lengthy and violent criminal record. Police investigation continued and more Police resources attended to the area. The male was found to be the subject of a Recognizance and bound by a condition to observe a daily curfew and reside at a residence in Saskatoon.
At 12:22 p.m., Police observed the male and a female exit a hotel room and get into the vehicle with the male driving. Police attempted to conduct a vehicle stop and an Officer tried to control the male and take him into custody however, the vehicle fled and a pursuit ensued. The Officer was dragged a short distance as the vehicle sped off. The Officer did not sustain injuries as a result of being dragged. The pursuit ended when the male lost control of the vehicle in the rail yard under the 1st street Bridge. The female attempted to run but was taken into custody and the male was able to flee on foot. Officers conducted a search of the area with the k-9 unit and the male was located hiding in a shed at the rear of a residence in the 00 Block of 3rd Street. A check of the vehicle identification number found that the vehicle was stolen from Saskatoon.
A 31-year-old male from Saskatoon has been charged with the following offences and will appear in Court on Friday.
- Breach of Recognizance
- Flight while Pursued by a Police Officer
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
- Assault Peace Officer with a Weapon
- Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
- Drive While Disqualified.
A 26-year-old female of No Fixed Address has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. She will appear in Court on Friday.
Investigation continued and Police received information that a male was at a residence in the 600 Block of Franklin Street and in Possession of a Hand Gun and Assault rifle. At 4:52 p.m., the male exited the residence and was taken into Police custody. A search of the residence recovered a .22 caliber long rifle, 20 gauge shot gun, Savage Hunting rifle and a SNR .357 B.B. Handgun. A red dodge truck parked at the residence was found to be stolen from Prince Albert Saskatchewan. A 31-year-old male from Saskatoon has been charged with the following offences and will appear in Court on Friday.

- Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- Unsafe Storage of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order
- Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
