Vehicle Pedestrian Collison – update

In the Dec 9th release it was reported that officers had closed the Daly overpass (18th St bridge) for a single vehicle vs pedestrian collision. The incident occurred at approx. 6:20 AM Friday Dec 9, when a northbound vehicle struck a male on the roadway. The investigation has revealed that the 19 year old male intentionally put himself in the path of the northbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle had no ability to avoid colliding with the male. The male was taken to hospital by ambulance, but sadly was pronounced dead a short time later. There are no charges being contemplated against the driver of the vehicle involved.

Pedestrian vs Vehicle
On December 9th, 2022 at 6:22 am, police responded to the Daly Bridge (1800 Pacific Avenue) for a report of a pedestrian vs vehicle collision. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Brandon Regional Health Centre for treatment. At this time the bridge is closed to all forms of traffic while members of the BPS Traffic Section conduct an in depth investigation. An update will be posted when the bridge has reopened.
