Seven hundred dollars worth of unpaid merchandise recovered, suspects arrested
In the afternoon of March 7th , Police responded to a business in the 900 block of Victoria Avenue for a report of two people shoplifting. Loss prevention staff directed police to the two alleged thieves who were promptly taken into custody. Located were a 54y/o female and 58y/o male from Brandon. A combined total of $700.00 worth of unpaid merchandise was recovered. Upon arrest, the female provided a false name and the male was in possession of knife.
Once correctly identified, the female was found to be the subject of a Manitoba warrant of arrest for a prior theft. She was charged with public mischief for lying, theft under $5000.00 and on the strength of the warrant. She was later released with a court date.
The male was found to be subject of a release order with conditions not to possess weapons and to have no contact with the female co-accused. He was charged for theft under $5000.00, possession of a weapon and two counts of breaching his order. He was held for court.
