Loughlan McMullan has been traded to the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL. Last season McMullan suited up for the Northern Manitoba Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Prior to joining the Blizzard, he was a part of the Brandon Wheat Kings U18AAA club that won the Manitoba Provincial Championship in 2023-24.

Brandon’s Kasia Baranyk was honored as the Top Infielder at a recent national softball tournament. Baranyk (Westman Magic U15) suited up for the U15 Eastman Wildcats, helping them finish 4th in the tournament which was held in Winkler and Morden.

Brandon’s own Mike Raimbault has been named the new head coach and general manager of the Winnipeg Sea Bears. Raimbault, who has built a strong reputation in basketball through his years of coaching success at the University of Winnipeg, will now take the reins of the Canadian Elite Basketball League franchise. Reese Shutte and Danica Averil have been named to Manitoba’s 2025 Women’s Under-18 Program of Excellence Top-24 roster. Shutte suited up for the U18 AAA Westman Wildcats last season while Averill spent the season with the U18 AAA Female Wheat Kings.

The WSHL wrapped up their 2025 season recently and the Vionell Property Barons claimed the Division 1 title, while the College Hockey Family Advisors squad captured the 2nd division title. The Division crown was won by Wendy’s.

Former Brandon Wheat King forward Matt Henry has signed a pro contract with the Tulsa Oilers for the 2025-26 hockey season. The rugged forward spent two season in Brandon racking up 240 penalty minutes in just 94 games.

At the Glen Lea Golf Course over the long weekend, Evan Nachtigall shoot a 60 from the white tees setting a new course record in the process. The previous course record, a 61, was recorded in June of 2006 by Ryan Robson.
