Dakota Nation Winterfest Postponed for 2026

In a statement released on their webpage, as well as Facebook, Sioux Valley Dakota Nation announced today that the Dakota Nation Winterfest will be postponed for 2026. “We are pleased to confirm that Dakota Nation Winterfest will return in January 2027, where we look forward to welcoming everyone back for a strong, vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture, sport, and community”.

Dakota Nation Winterfest is a long standing tradition in Western Manitoba and is a combination of cultural and aboriginal sports. The festival encompasses activities and events for all age groups including a square dance competition, talent show, wacipi, basketball, volleyball and moccasin games. One of the more popular events each year is the adult and minor hockey tournaments drawing teams from all over Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta.
