Numerous Voting Options Available For Oct. 24 Municipal Election
Brandon, MB – With one month remaining until the October 24th municipal election, the City of Brandon’s Legislative Services Office and Brandon’s Senior Elections Official would like to inform the voting public of the numerous opportunities being provided to assist them in casting their ballot.
Brandon residents will vote to elect City Councillor representatives in Wards 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 in next month’s election (the position of Mayor and Council member in Wards 7 and 10 have been filled by acclamation). A full list of official Councillor candidates can be found on the Brandon Votes website at https://www.brandonvotes.ca/elector-info/candidate-listing. The October 24th election will also see the selection of eight candidates (City-wide) to serve on the Brandon School Board of Trustees for the 2018-2022 term of office, with the board’s rural ward representative already acclaimed. Eligible voters will have received a Voter Information card in their mailbox in recent days, informing of ward-specific and all-ward voting places that will be in place for the October 24th election. For residents who opt to cast their ballot ahead of Election Day, advance voting opportunities will be available at Brandon City Hall (Main Foyer, 410-9th Street) on the following days:
- Wednesday, October 10th, 2018, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Thursday, October 18th, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturday, October 20th, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
An eligible voter may also apply in writing or in person to vote by sealed envelope ballot if they have reason to believe that they will be unable to vote at their regular voting place on Election Day or during advance voting opportunities. Application to vote by sealed ballot can be made in writing to the City of Brandon Senior Elections Official. In-person applications can also be made by visiting the Senior Elections Official at Brandon City Hall (410-9th Street), beginning Wednesday, September 26th, 2018. The deadline for applications to vote by sealed envelope ballot is October 19th, 2018.
