Possession of Stolen Property / Assault with a Weapon

At approx. 1500 hrs on Friday afternoon Police received a call of a hit and run in the 100 block of McTavish Ave. The suspect vehicle rear-ended another vehicle and then drove away. Police then received another call that a similar vehicle had hit a snow bank in the 300 block of Frederick St. A witness on Frederick indicated there had been a female and two males in the vehicle. At one point, the witness was detaining the female as police were called, and one of the males approached her and pulled a large knife from his waistband in an attempt to gain the female’s release. The witness did release the female and all three suspects fled the area prior to police arrival. Officers flooded the area and began a search, eventually capturing all three suspects, they were arrested and lodged at Brandon Correctional. Two of the suspects, a 14 year old Brandon female and a 16 year old Brandon male were will be released Saturday morning on a PTA charged with possession of property obtained by crime. The third suspect, a 16-year-old male from Long Plains will appear in court later today charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of property obtained by crime.
