Assiniboine Community College has announced several new advanced diploma programs starting this fall, giving learners the opportunity to hone their knowledge and abilities in specialized business and agriculture disciplines.
“These programs are designed for learners to sharpen their skills in focused subject areas and ladder their existing education to branch into new fields,” said Bobbie Robertson, Dean of Business at Assiniboine.
“In less than a year, a person can graduate and put what they’ve learned into action, seeking out new job opportunities, or advancement along their current career path.”
The new one-year advanced diploma programs to be offered on campus in Brandon starting this September include:
- Accounting
- Agribusiness
- Finance
- Human Resource Management
- Indigenous Financial Management
- Marketing
Advanced credentials are a growing area of program offerings at Assiniboine and require that applicants have a previous post-secondary credential, such as a university degree or college diploma.
“Students build on prior learning and experience to enhance their critical thinking abilities,” said Robertson. “They expand their competency into other subjects that they can then apply in practical career settings.”
The college already offers several other advanced diplomas including Early Childhood Program Management, Geographical Information Systems, and Sustainable Food Systems.
