In other Wheat King news, the club announced that Levi Ellingsen, (1st round, 1st overall pick in the 2025 U.S. Priority Draft) signed a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. They have also signed Jimmy Egan (Mahtomedi, Minn) to the WHL scholarship and development agreement. The team also announced Jake McKercher as the new Equipment Manager. Jaxon Jacobson and Giorgos Pantelas were selected to attend Hockey Canada’s prestigious U18 Program of Excellence summer camp
The U15 A Westman Premier Homes softball team became Provincial champions after defeating a team from Ste. Rose in Sunday’s championship game. Thirty-one teams took part in the tournament (July 4-6) that was played in Winkler from July 4-6 . The U17 ATB Services squad also secured a provincial championship this past weekend upending a team from Virden in the title game played in Steinbach.
Evan Nachtigall of the Shilo Golf and Country Club is the 2025 Nott Autocorp Men’s Amateur Champion, earning himself an exemption to compete in his first professional event the PGA Tour America’s Manitoba Open in Winnipeg from August 21-24.
With a narrow 8-6 victory over a resilient Southeast Express squad, the Onanole Sporty’s Originals captured the Borderline Legends fastball league championship for a 3rd time on Wednesday evening.
