Brandon Blizzard Claim Provincial Ringette Championship
The Brandon Blizzard U14B ringette team brought home Brandon’s first ever provincial championship this past weekend. Brandon finished the provincial tournament weekend with a 4-1 record to get the gold medal. After an opening 9-3 loss to the Park City Wildcats, Brandon rebounded with a 4-3 win over MacDonald Wildfire and then defeated Red River Rage 6-4.
With the tournament format, Brandon then had to beat Park City twice to take gold. In game one, Carly O’Rourke and Jasmine Horwood each scored twice and Jordyn Rolling added another to lead Brandon to a 5-4 win. Emily Robb had 36 saves. In game two Brandon came up with their best effort of the weekend. Brandon again got two goals each from O’Rourke and Horwood. Reese Burke and Rylee Slator chipped in singles. Emily Robb made several spectacular saves to get the win. Brandon managed to kill three penalties in the last 2:44 of play to capture the title in exciting fashion.
