Golf Manitoba’s Junior Bantam Championship wrapped up this weekend at the Transcona Golf Club and 10-year old Hunter Oakden of Brandon was crowned the 12u Provincial Bantam Champion. He carded rounds of 84/88 to win by 10 strokes over the nearest competitor. For his efforts he took home a medal and a $50 gift card.
Hunter, who lists Tiger Woods as his favourite golfer, told bdnmb.ca that being “able to stay focused and bouncing back from a bad shot” was key to his success in claiming the championship. To date Hunter has hit approximately 45 rounds of golf this summer and is gearing up to play in the Mini Tour Masters at King Links by The Sea in Vancouver in August. His next event is the MJT Selkirk which goes tomorrow and Tuesday.
