Brandon Police: Pair arrested on drug trafficking charges

Two people were taken into custody as a result of a traffic stop at 1:25 a.m., Saturday morning. Both subjects were arrested and removed from the vehicle when open liquor was observed in plain view within the vehicle interior. Once outside the vehicle the male occupant removed a ringing cellular telephone from his pocket which he dropped to the ground and stomped on. This action destroyed the phone and rendered it inoperable. The members continued to search the vehicle incidental to the original arrest and found just over $13,000 cash, 1 ounce of cocaine, and 43 grams of crack cocaine. A 35 year old male from Edmonton was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre to be remanded today. A 31 year old Brandon female was released to appear in court in August. Both are charged with possession of cocaine and crack cocaine for the Purpose of trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime.
