Brandon Riverbank to host its first Citizenship Ceremony
Brandon, MB – Brandon Riverbank welcomes new Canadian citizens! An official citizenship ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 12 on the brand new Festival Park stage on the grounds of Brandon Riverbank.
Up to 60 candidates are expected to be sworn in during the ceremony, which will be conducted by the federal Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship. The ceremony is due to start at 1 p.m. and is expected to take about an hour.
During the ceremony, the national anthem will be performed by Sandy Jasper, a well known Brandon resident who has performed the anthem on many occasions including sporting events and fairs. Also during the ceremony several dignitaries will welcome the new Canadians and there will be an official swearing in of the new citizens.
The public are welcome to attend and there is no charge. Light refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the ceremony inside the Riverbank Discovery Centre. Photo and video are permitted during the ceremonies.
