Break-In Under Investigation

On October 15th at approximately 10:29 p.m., a security company reported an alarm at a business in the 1500 block of Park Avenue. Brandon Police attended the scene and discovered broken glass and an insecure door. It was determined that approximately $1,000 in cash was stolen during the break-in. This situation remains under investigation.

Structure Fire

On October 15th at approximately 4:40 p.m., a fire was reported in the back lane of the 400 block of 16th Street. Brandon Fire & Emergency Services alongside BPS members attended. It was reported that the homeowner had placed a pail of ashes against a two-car garage, believing the ashes had cooled. Unfortunately, the ashes reignited, causing the garage to catch fire. As a result, the garage and a vehicle inside were lost. The fire also caused damage to a nearby fence. No injuries were reported.
