Vincent Massey presents Seussical

Vincent Massey High School is proud to bring the witty, wild, and whimsical world of Dr. Seuss to life with Seussical a musical this November 9, 10 and 11 at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium. Now one of the most performed shows in America, Seussical is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza! Tony winning writers, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Once on This Island, Ragtime), have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. Vincent Massey High School students are having a blast portraying the colorful characters who transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. The Cat in the Hat (Cash Laluk) tells the story of Horton (Manu Tarubal), an elephant who discovers a speck of dust that contains the Whos, including Jojo (Devin Kerman-Forsythe), a Who child sent off to military school for thinking too many "thinks." Horton faces a double challenge: not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must guard an abandoned egg, left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird (Rhianna Makinson). Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz (Dannah Pentney) never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphant. Seussical is fun for the whole family! Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors, and $12 for children under 12. Thursday, November 9 at 7:30 pm Friday, November 10 at 7:30 pm Saturday, November 11 at 7:30 pm Tickets can be purchased through the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium at www.wmca.ca or at 204-728-9510.
