One week following the 5th annual Food Truck Warz, Brandon's popular RibFest event will be held September 23-25th on the grounds at the Keystone Centre. Enjoy award winning BBQ from famous BBQ experts including ribs, brisket, pulled pork and more. Hours are from 11:00 am to 10:00 pm Friday and Saturday, and 11:00 am to 6:00 pm on the Sunday. Two Manitoba singer/song writers will be taking to the stage at the Lady of the Lake on Friday, September 2. The show gets underway at 9pm and admission is only $10.00 Consistently recognized as Manitoba’s most promising country stars, Emma Peterson is known not only for her captivating performances, but for a powerful voice and all too relatable lyricism. Growing her following in social media, Emma has been able to engage with fans across the country and find a larger audience. In 2016, Emma’s debut took home top spot in CMT’s Chevy Tailgate Contest, resulting in one of her original songs being featured on the Chevy Top 20, while she made a name for herself as one of the Top 4 finalists in the country. In 2020, she headed to the Manitoba Country Music Awards in Winnipeg with a slew of nominations including Fans’ Choice, Female Artist and Music Video of the Year, ultimately taking home a win in the Emerging Artist category. Desiree Dorion grew up a mile and a half from the grounds of Dauphin Country Fest, one of the biggest outdoor music festivals in Canada. As a little girl she would ride her bike there when the festival wasn’t on, climb up on the stage, and pretend to play to the thousands of fans that come to watch big country music acts. In 2014 her dream of playing the main stage came true when she shared the stage with The Band Perry. The JUNO Nominee is one of the most celebrated female artists in country music in Manitoba. She has had five songs chart in the top 100 on the Canadian country music charts (TRAX), along with several reach the top spot on the Indigenous Music Countdown. Her songwriting partner on her most recent album, Break the Chain is producer/songwriter Chris Burke-Gaffney. They enjoyed a successful collaboration previously with the hit “Whiskey Knows” In 2017, Desiree took home the award for Songwriter of the Year at the Manitoba Country Music Awards for co-writing "Whiskey Knows" with Chris Burke-Gaffney. "Whiskey Knows" was also a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition.

(Grim Acres Scare Away Cancer Facebook) We know many people have been inquiring and anxiously awaiting an announcement regarding our 2022 season. It is with VERY heavy hearts that we have made the very difficult decision to no longer continue to run and operate the Grim Acres Scare Away Cancer Haunted Event. The financial burden, mental, physical and health requirements to run such a big event are no longer feasible for us to continue. Therefore, we are ceasing operations and will be permanently closing the Grim Acres Scare Away Cancer Halloween Haunt, effective immediately. We would like to offer you our heartfelt thanks for your many years of support and continued generosity for each and every one of our Grim Acres Scare Away Cancer events over the last twelve years. We feel deeply thankful for all you have done for us. The memories you have given us fills us with continued joy and will last us a lifetime! We would also like to thank our many dedicated sponsors for their help and generous donations over the years! Most of all, we want to thank our many volunteers that helped to contribute to the success of the Grim Acres Haunt. We could not have done it without you. It is because of your support and giving that over $130,000 was raised and donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. This helped support many programs aimed at providing much needed help and inspiration for Canadians everywhere in their fight against cancer. While the Halloween feature will no longer be our main fundraising program, we will still continue to raise help and awareness through other events we plan on having at various venues in Brandon in the future. We will also still be actively involved in our Superheroes Against Cancer Alliance (SACA) outreach programs, and will also be looking into possibly having movie under the stars type fundraising events as well. For those who are interested, we will be having a yard sale on Sept 24th and 25th from 9am to 3pm at Grim Acres in the previous "Phobia/Carnevil" Haunt. We will be selling off all of our high quality props, costumes and Halloween Decor at fair market closeout pricing. The 5th annual Food Truck Warz in Brandon takes place on September 15-18 and organizers are pleased to announce that iconic Winnipeg Blue Bombers mascots Buzz and Boomer will be in attendance to help celebrate the occasion. Come down and meet, or have your photo taken with, the dynamic duo on Saturday the 17th from noon to 3pm. "We are extremely pleased to secure the services of the popular mascots for our event. People have been very supportive of Food Truck Warz since it's inception and we wanted to create some additional buzz for those attending" said Food Truck Warz organizer Darryl Wolski. Joining Buzz and Boomer for the anniversary celebration will be Willie, the Wheat Kings Mascot, and Bailey the Bobcat, the official mascot of the Brandon University Bobcats. The Shamrock Centre and the Heritage Home for the Arts will be hosting an exciting event in Killarney on Friday evening, August 26. "Dueling Keys", based out of Minnesota, will be coming to town to bring a level of fun to the Community Hall that those who attend will never forget. With music ranging from the songs of today to as far back as your memories can take you, the interactive musical comedy experience will have you singing, shouting, dancing, and laughing. Cash bar with seating for over 600 people inside the Killarney Foundation Community Hall. Tickets ($30 each, $210 for table of 8) are available at the Shamrock Centre and Lewis & Jones.
