Stunning Christmas Light Display 25 Minutes from Brandon

The display at 2 Yorkshire Drive in Sprucewoods uses both sights and sounds to create a dazzling array of lights. For the second consecutive year, Mike Wilwand is hosting one of the most amazing Christmas light displays you will see in this area. Currently the setup is running about 25,000 lights, 30 songs, 7 inflatables, 4 arches, 8 mini trees, and 3 pvc framed trees. Most of the props are diy projects. From the warmth and comfort of your vehicle you can "hear" (tune your radio to 89.1 fm) the lights dance, as the show is synchronized to music. Mike is no stranger to setting up elaborate Christmas light displays. In conversation with bdnmb.ca, Mike said he started in Winnipeg 10 years ago with a small display that eventually grew in size to over 36,000 lights. Some of his previous light shows can be viewed on his YouTube channel. "I love to hear how excited everyone gets when they watch the show" said Mike. He relocated to Sprucewoods three years ago and the move provided him with a much larger space to work with. With the move also came a switch to almost entirely LED lights and the addition of several more props. Shows start daily at 6 pm and end at 11 pm.

Brandon’s best Christmas Light display kicks off tonight

If you’re looking for the best Christmas Light display in Brandon then you owe it to yourself to check out the impressive light and sound show at 239 Princess Ave E. This iconic light show features thousands of lights synchronized to some rocking Christmas tunes (4) coming through your very own car radio (104.1 FM). The first sequenced show was in 2012 so this is year 9. Jason Cross tells bdnmb.ca he added about 1600 new lights this year but he's lost count of the total number of lights in the display. This year the show features all new songs and several new props including 7 mini trees each with 100 pixels, new tune to sign that can do video, pixels on fence line, pixels on roof line, 2 projectors and some “really big bulbs”. Any donations received will go to Muscular Dystrophy.  A link to their website for  donations: https://crosslights.ca Sundays - Thursdays: 5pm - 10pm Fridays - Saturdays: 5pm - 11pm Christmas Eve: 5pm - 11pm

Serena Ryder, The Trews to headline CP ‘Holiday Train at Home’ concert

Serena Ryder and The Trews will headline CP's 2020 "Holiday Train at Home" concert, which will stream on CP's Facebook page on Dec. 12. The event will raise money and awareness and help local food banks collect much-needed donations. The Dec. 12 concert, scheduled for 6 p.m. MT/8 p.m. ET, will also feature performances by JoJo Mason, Logan Staats and Kelly Prescott. CP Holiday Train fans will be able to view the concert by visiting facebook.com/canadian.pacific at the show's start time. An archived version of the show will remain on the page for later viewing. "For more than two decades, the CP family has supported Canadians and Americans in need through the CP Holiday Train program," said CP President and CEO Keith Creel. "In a year full of challenge and loss, we will host this concert as a call to action for the train's supporters to donate generously if they can this Christmas season. The spirit of the Holiday Train will come alive even though the train itself will not operate due to the COVID-19 pandemic." CP will donate $1.24 million this year to 201 food banks in communities that ordinarily host CP Holiday Train events. In a normal year, CP calls on attendees at local shows to make a cash or non-perishable food donation. With the "Holiday Train at Home" concert, CP hopes to inspire donations from across North America even though local shows won't occur. Viewers seeking to donate will be directed to Food Banks Canada and Feeding America, the national organizations that support community food banks in their respective countries. Viewers are also encouraged to give to their local food bank. "I'm so excited to be part of the virtual CP Holiday Train this year, helping raise awareness and funds for local food banks in this time of extraordinary need," headliner Serena Ryder said. "Watch the concert on Dec. 12, and if you can, please give a little bit to support those in need!" CP's 2020 corporate donation will bring the total amount of money raised at CP Holiday Train stops to $19.05 million since the train's inception in 1999. Food banks have also collected 4.8 million pounds of food donations at local Holiday Train events. (CP News)
