Brandon! Say Hello To Your Very First Annual Comic Convention!

Brandon, Manitoba, Canada - 05/10/2019: FNC MegaCorp ( www.fncmc.com ) is extremely proud to announce that the City of Brandon will be hosting its first annual comic convention. The convention will be held at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium on Oct.19th & 20th, 2019, and is selecting dates for events in 2020 & 2021. This family-friendly event is an unprecedented extravaganza for the Brandon & Westman area, featuring celebrity guests, comic creators & artists, cosplayers, and other genre related personas. To keep the excitement levels high, the convention is including a variety of interactive activities such as autograph & photo opportunities, shows, contests, gaming events, and a multitude of other engaging content. Right now we are delighted to announce two of our upcoming guests: Dawn McTeigue ( www.dawnmcteigue.com ) She is Canada’s very own superstar artist has been featured by DC, Image Comics, Zenescope, amongst many other publishers. Sam De La Rosa ( www.samdelarosa.com ) Making his first Canadian appearance ever! Some of his brilliant works include multiple Spider-man series, Venom: Lethal Protector, and over 200 other titles. The Board of Directors of FNCMC (Jeremy Baker, Michelle Boudreau, Scott Bradley, Jill Elvers, Brandon Fordyce & Justin Steeves) are all Brandonites who are deeply passionate and dedicated to the pursuit and promotion of education & literacy. By weaving these elements into the Brandon convention, they hope to create more public awareness on these skills through an emphasis on fun entertainment & arts-based experiences. Smoked & Sauced Mobile BBQ owner expands, adds Poutine King truck to his fleet

Jayson McCallum is the proud new owner of a Poutine King franchise for the Brandon and area market. The chef, who already operates Brandon's most popular food truck Smoked & Sauced, said they will be offering up to 19 different poutines including Big Cheesyburger, Kalbi BBQ and a Cowboy Poutine featuring Smoked & Sauced Pulled Pork. "The opportunity to join the Poutine King franchise came to us last summer but after an unfortunate accident things had to be put on hold...after finding the perfect truck this winter we are back up and running. Bringing smoked and Sauced and the Poutine King together just seemed like a good fit" said Jayson. People can find Brandon's newest food truck this summer at the Discovery Centre (on Canada day), Dauphin's Countryfest, Super Run, Brandon Summer Fair, and Food Truck Warz. They are also doing a circuit around Winnipeg, as they have the rights to the Manitoba territory. Rockin’ The Fields Of Minnedosa 2019 Lineup Additions

The 2019 Rockin' The Fields Of Minnedosa will be held on August 2 – 4. Organizers of the annual event revealed the second round of the 2019 lineup today, which includes Daisy Chain, Refusion, Kates Outlaw, Wreckin So, Blacklights, Thousand Dollar Truck and Mr Van Down By The River. Previously announced acts include Collective Soul, 54-40, Tom Cochrane, Platinum Blonde and the Sam Roberts Band. The festival site itself features an amphitheatre with built in bench and folding chairs overlooking the main stage and lake.  An additional two stages ensure that there is music on throughout the day and evening as well.  With hot showers, vendors, ice, camping, water and septic service, garbage and recycling pick up, onsite security and first aid there are many ways to keep yourself comfortable. The festival is assisted by a virtual army of volunteers, both on the August long weekend and the weeks leading up to the festival.  Service clubs, businesses and individuals recognize the importance of the festival to the local economy and are eager to support RFM as needed. New attractions added to this year’s Manitoba Summer Fair

The Manitoba Summer Fair returns to Brandon June 5 - 9 at the Keystone Centre with more music, more entertainment and more community partnerships. “Major events like the Manitoba Summer Fair enrich our city and have a meaningful impact on lives in a number of different ways.” Said Ron Kristjansson, general manager at the Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba. “We are always looking for opportunities to collaborate and support other community initiatives.” The fair will host its fifth annual Canadian Citizenship ceremony on Wednesday, June 6 to kick off the week along with Brandon’s largest midway show presented by North American Midway Entertainment and an evening with random information masters, Trivia with Kate and Aaron. The fair offers a variety of entertainment over the five days with daily shows by the West Coast Lumberjacks and NorthFIRE Circus. KidZone brings in the petting zoo, pony rides and more family entertainment with Sonshine and Broccoli, Doodles and Comedy Juggler, Darren Bedford. Thursday afternoon will feature a senior’s tea and dance in the Dome Building, and Creative Arts competition judging in the UCT Pavillion. The weekend will include a horse show in the Westoba Ag Centre including one of only two Triple Point sanctioned fairs in North America for miniatures and Shetland ponies. Beer Garden stage entertainment includes the Roulette Band from Sandy Bay First Nation, Whiskey River of Brandon, Dirt Road Pilots of Winnipeg along with other local artists playing through out the afternoons. Other new partnerships for this year’s event include the Blue Hills Fibre Festival taking place on June 8 & June 9, meet and greet with the Wheat City Whiskey Jacks on Saturday, June 8, nondenominational church service immediately following the Cando Breakfast under the Domes, and game demonstration with PrairieCon on Sunday. Fire, Air, Earth or Water? Over 90 dancers of all ages will bring these four elements to life with the magic of an over 20 foot screen and exciting special effects. Earth that is fixed, rigid, static and symbolizes the world of senses and sound Water that is fluidity and flexibility, and symbolizes the world of emotions Air that has no shape and is incapable of any fixed form. It is a symbol of thoughts Fire that is boundless and invisible, and symbolizes a heat that consumes all You will see performances in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary and Lyrical.
