Spirit Halloween finds new location in Brandon for 2025

Brandon’s Halloween enthusiasts won’t have to wait much  longer—Spirit Halloween is presently in the final stages of setting up shop for the 2025 spooky season at 1545 – 18th Street North, in the former Peavey Mart building. Founded in 1983, Spirit Halloween has become North America’s largest seasonal Halloween retailer, with hundreds of pop-up locations across Canada and the United States. Each year, the stores transform vacant buildings into immersive Halloween destinations, complete with animatronic displays and themed sections for costumes, props, and party supplies. For Brandon residents, the store’s arrival provides a one-stop shop for everything from children’s costumes and trick-or-treat accessories to elaborate adult outfits and home decorations. Spirit Halloween stores typically feature: A wide selection of costumes for adults and kids A vast assortment of decorations, animatronics, and props Collectibles, themed décor, and accessories Clearly themed aisles—by genre, franchise, or product type—for easy browsing Spirit Halloween is expected to remain open in Brandon until the first week of November.

Royal Canadian Air Force Band to Grace Riverbank Stage in Free Brandon Concert

The Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) Band will perform a free outdoor concert on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at the Fusion Credit Union Stage at the Riverbank Discovery Centre. The outdoor concert begins at 6:30 p.m. as part of the City of Brandon’s summer concert series. As the season finale, this performance comes after summer shows featuring local artists like Kates Outlaw, Valdy, and others. The RCAF Band, a 35-member, full-time professional military ensemble, is expected to delight audiences with a mix of rock, pop, and country hits in addition to traditional selections. The event promises a memorable evening of high-caliber music in a beautiful riverside setting—perfect for families and music enthusiasts alike. Community members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, and enjoy this outdoor celebration of music and civic pride.  

Tamarack Golf Tournament Wraps Up, Chuback wins Men’s Championship Final

Clear Lake once again played host to one of Manitoba’s most celebrated summer sporting traditions as the Tamarack Golf Tournament teed off this past week. The annual event, held at the picturesque Clear Lake Golf Course, drew hundreds of golfers and spectators to Riding Mountain National Park. Grady Chuback won the 2025 Tamarack men’s golf tournament.  Chubak defeated Ross Sheard in the final at the Clear Lake golf course. Chubak started the championship shooting a 75 and 73 in his opening qualifying rounds, leaving 7th overall. He then disposed of Kolby Day, Greg Misener, and Cal Vanderschuit prior to meeting Sheard in Saturdays championship match. Additional winners include: “Keith Fawcett” - Masters. “Jordan Trotter and Jared Jacobson” - Men’s Scramble. “Larrie Kid” - Seniors. “Jayne Toop and Jody Bieber” - Ladies Scramble, and “Hunter Oakden” - Juniors. Crime Stoppers Wanted and Crime of the Week for August, 22 2025

The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is “WANTED BY POLICE”: Sebastian LONGCLAWS FOR Robbery with Violence. On July 29, 2025, Sebastian LONGCLAWS assaulted a female and stole her personal belongings in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue. LONGCLAWS fled prior to police arrival and his whereabouts is unknown. CRIME OF THE WEEK for Aug 22, 2025 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a Break and Enter. On August 17th, 2025, at approximately 3:45AM, a male and female broke into a building located in the 500 block of Rosser Avenue. The male suspect was wearing a blue hoodie, black pants, red shoes and a black backpack. The female had bleached blonde hair and was wearing all black with a white Nike symbol on the front of her hoodie along with a camo print backpack. BMO New Location

Bank of Montreal will open a new location at 1650 Park Ave. ( former location of Kam Lung ). Currently the location is in the process of being demolished and in 2026 BMO and Firehouse Subs will open beside Wendy's. Further details are not available at this time.
