Sunrise and Minnedosa Credit Unions Announce Intention to Merge

Brandon, Manitoba - Sunrise and Minnedosa Credit Unions are pleased to announce they are in discussions to merge operations, effective July 1st, 2020.
The primary objective of the merger is to improve member service through an expanded geographic area, increase and improve product offerings, enhance career opportunities for employees, and drive greater operational efficiencies and cost savings through economies of scale.
Brad Ross, General Manager, Minnedosa Credit Union states, "As a small, but strong credit union, Minnedosa has always done its due diligence by executing sound business plans and strategies designed to serve our members, employees and community. To allow us to continue to serve our communities well into the future the Board of Directors and I are confident that a merger with Sunrise Credit Union is the best way to do that.”
Both Minnedosa and Sunrise Credit Unions are member-owned and community focused. It is these foundational and co-operative philosophies that bring these two like-minded organizations together.

Collaborating on initiatives that bring benefit to the communities we serve throughout Southwestern Manitoba is something we routinely do as part of the cooperative movement,” says Tim Klassen, President and CEO of Sunrise Credit Union. He goes on to say, “It would be a great pleasure to officially welcome Minnedosa Credit Union to the Sunrise family.”
An information meeting will be held on October 16, 2019 at 7 p.m. at the Minnedosa Community Conference Centre, 63 Main St. N. Minnedosa, MB and members of both credit unions will have a chance to vote on the proposed merger. Minnedosa members can place their votes on Tuesday, November 5th at the Minnedosa Community Conference Centre, 63 Main St. N. Minnedosa, MB and Sunrise members can vote on Wednesday, November 6th at Sunrise Credit Union, 2nd Floor, 2305 Victoria Avenue, Brandon, MB.
