Jiffy Food & Video owners retiring after 36 years, posts business for sale

Owners Dave and Sandy Lindenberg have put Jiffy Food & Video in Brandon up for sale after 36 years in business. Jiffy Food & Video opened in Brandon (1987) on Friday, July 13. It was a busy time in the Lindenberg house, as the couple had just recently got married a few months earlier in February. In conversation with bdnmb.ca earlier today, Dave said he is ready to retire and wants to pass the business on to another entrepreneur. Since posting the business for sale earlier in the month he has already received multiple offers for the long standing business. While the convenience store is best known for it's large selection of magazines, popcorn, and as the home of the "LA Squishy", it very well may also have been one of the last places in Brandon where you could rent a movie. Over the years, the business went through multiple renovations and product offerings including flowers, CD's & cassettes, a sports card counter, hot food, and arcade games. Dave and Sandy have no immediate plans in retirement. He said what he will most about the business is the customers and his daily interactions with them. One thing he said he won't miss as much is the daily grind of coming into the store to open and then returning later that evening to close the shop down.  "Having to be at the store so early every morning, I missed a lot of family breakfasts and lunches over the years but was able to make up for it in the evenings and supper times" he told bdnmb.ca. "It's been a good run."
