Theft / Assault x2 / Mischief to Property On July 19th at 10:23 p.m., police responded to a business in the 700 block of 10th Street after a 29-year-old female stole merchandise and then returned to the store. Upon returning, the woman reportedly threw two bottles of water at employees, acted erratically, and caused damage inside the business. She was initially unarmed; however, when officers arrived, she had picked up a fire extinguisher. The woman, who was believed to be intoxicated by drugs, was arrested for Theft, Assault with a Weapon and Mischief to Property. Police also determined that she was wanted on two Unendorsed Arrest Warrants, which will be executed once she is sober. The female was brought to BPS detention cells and is scheduled to meet with the Crisis Response Unit before appearing in court on the morning of July 20th, 2026. Breach of the Peace Over the past 24 hours, BPS officers responded to two separate incidents that required police intervention, resulting in two individuals being arrested for Breach of the Peace. In the first incident, a 59-year-old man caused a disturbance at Brandon Regional Health Centre. After being provided with a taxi ride home, he stopped the taxi and laid down in the middle of 1st Street. EMS transported him back to the hospital, where he continued to cause disturbances. In the second incident, police were called to a residence after an unknown 24-year-old male was reportedly at a residence door attempting to gain entry. In both cases, the individuals were brought to BPS detention cells to allow the situations to de-escalate and to prevent their behaviour from continuing. They will be released once they are sober, calm, and able to safely care for themselves. Stolen Vehicle Recovered On July 19th at 1:26 p.m. a BPS officer located a stolen white Nissan at a hotel on Middleton Avenue. The registered owner is out of Carberry, and the report was entered by RCMP. The vehicle was towed back to BPS for further investigation and appropriate parties were notified. Failure to Comply Undertaking On July 19th at 4:02 p.m., Brandon Police Service received a report of a female jumping into traffic on Princess Avenue East. Officers located the 41-year-old woman in the 200 block. Upon arresting the highly intoxicated female, officers found her to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine, contrary to the conditions of her court order. She was arrested and held at BPS detention cells. She will be released on an Appearance Notice once sober, with a court date of September 21st, 2026. Possession of a Weapon / Failure to Comply Undertaking On July 19th at 5:47 p.m., BPS officers located a 34-year-old male passed out in a yard on Cornell Bay. The man was bound by court conditions prohibiting him from being intoxicated outside of his residence. During the arrest, officers located a bag in his possession containing a stick with a knife taped to it. He was arrested for breaching his court conditions and held in BPS detention cells. He will be released on an Appearance Notice once sober, with a future court date of September 28th, 2026.

As of 7:00 a.m., the Assiniboine River level at 1st Street was 1177.29 feet. Since reaching its peak on July 13, the river has now declined by approximately 2 feet, 2 inches, and water levels continue to trend downward. While this is encouraging news, residents are reminded that flood waters and riverbanks can still be dangerous. Fast-moving water, unstable ground, hidden debris, and slippery conditions can pose serious safety risks. Theft Under $5000 / Flight from Police On July 16th, 2026, at approximately 3:54 p.m., BPS officers responded to a report of a theft in progress at a business in the 2600 block of Victoria Avenue. The suspect was observed repeatedly moving between the store and a truck parked in a designated accessible parking stall with its license plates covered. As officers were being dispatched, the suspect fled the area in the truck. Police located the vehicle almost immediately; however, the driver failed to stop after an officer activated the emergency lights on a marked police cruiser. Officers remained in the area and observed the vehicle coming to a stop several blocks from the business, away from the location of the initial attempted traffic stop. Upon stopping, the driver and passenger attempted to switch seats. Officers and their cruisers boxed in the stationary vehicle to prevent it from leaving and arrested the 45-year-old male driver for Theft Under $5,000 and Flight from Police. The male was transported to BPS, where he admitted to consuming a quantity of edibles and other drugs that he was unable to identify. He was subsequently transported to Brandon Regional Health Centre (BRHC) for further assessment and care. The 41-year-old male is set to attend court in the morning once sober on July 17th, 2026. Failure to Stop at Scene of Accident Causing Bodily Harm On the evening of July 15th, 2026, BPS officers responded to a report of a fight between two males in the lobby entrance of a hotel in the 1900 block of Queens Avenue. During the altercation, one of the males attempted to leave the scene in a truck while the other attempted to jump into the vehicle. As the truck drove away, the second male was left hanging from the vehicle before falling to the ground. Witnesses reported that the truck then ran over the victim in the upper back area. When officers arrived, the injured male was unconscious but breathing. He was treated by Brandon Fire & Emergency Services (BFES) and transported to BRHC for medical care. Police quickly located the truck and its driver at a business in the 800 block of Pacific Avenue. The driver was arrested and transported to BPS. The male was charged and later released on an Appearance Notice. He is scheduled to appear in court on September 14th, 2026. The most recent update indicates the injured male is recovering from his injuries. Firearms Related Offences x10 The BPS Major Crimes Section has arrested a 32-year-old male in connection with a firearms incident that occurred in a residential area off Pacific Avenue on July 2nd, 2026. Police responded to a report that a vehicle parked at a residence had been struck five times by gunfire. The investigation by the Major Crimes Section identified a 32-year-old male as the individual responsible for the shooting. On July 16th, 2026, investigators attended Brandon Correctional Centre, where the male was in custody, and arrested him in relation to this investigation. He has been charged with ten firearm related charges. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on the morning of July 17th, 2026.

On July 13, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Killarney RCMP received a report of an assault that occurred in the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain. RCMP learned the 19-year-old male victim was preparing to leave the community in a vehicle when he was attacked by multiple males who held him down, wrapped him in a blanket and duct-taped his ankles and hands. The suspects then assaulted him with a stick, took his two cellphones and two small knives, loaded him in the back of an off-road vehicle and dropped him off near a wooded area a distance away. The suspects – three of whom were partially masked – then left. The victim was eventually able to free himself from the tape and make it home, at which point RCMP were called. Four suspects from the RM of Killarney-Turtle Mountain have since been arrested in connection with the incident, ranging in age from 16 to 31. Thirty-one-year-old Justin Gross, 22-year-old Gideon Waldner and 26-year-old Jayden Waldner are each charged with: • Forcible confinement; • Disguised with intent to commit offence; • Overcoming resistance to the commission of an indictable offence; and • Robbery. A 16-year-old male is charged with: • Forcible confinement; • Robbery with weapon; and • Overcoming resistance to the commission of an indictable offence. Theft Under $5000 / Fraud x2 On July 15th, 2026, at approximately 1:41 p.m., BPS received a report of a wallet stolen from a vehicle parked in a business parking lot in the 1200 block of 18th Street. The complainant reported that shortly after the theft, their debit card had been used at a nearby restaurant for a purchase of $35.26, followed by another transaction at a local beer vendor for $30.60. Police located the 44-year-old male matching the suspect description. During the encounter, officers recovered the stolen debit and credit cards which were on the suspect’s person. The male was arrested and brought to BPS detention cells. He will appear in court on the morning of July 16th, 2026, to answer to charges related to the incident. Mischief Under $5000 / Possession of a Weapon / Failure to Comply Probation On July 15th, 2026, at approximately 3:42 p.m., BPS officers responded to a report of a violent male at Brandon Regional Health Centre. A 35-year-old male had become aggressive toward staff and had broken a pane of glass in the sallyport area. Hospital security intervened as the male appeared to be reaching into his pocket. A pocketknife was located in the male's possession. The male is currently bound by two probation orders prohibiting him from possessing any weapons. The male was arrested and brought to BPS detention cells. He will appear in court on the morning of July 16th, 2026.
