Police: Suspect throws full bottle of beer at officers

On December 27, 2022 at 8:00 pm, police responded to a report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance in a residence by destroying property. Others in the home were unable to prevent his actions from escalating and requested police intervene; however, the 50-year-old male acted aggressively toward police and threw a full bottle of beer at them.  The officers were not injured. In order to gain compliance from the male and arrest him, officers deployed a conducted energy weapon.  Once the male was in custody, he was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will be released once sober to appear in court on February 23, 2023 on charges of Assault with a Weapon and Assault Peace Officer.  

Male charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over .08

At 3:49 pm on December 26th  police received a call from a member of the public regarding an Impaired Driver. Police were able to locate the 47 year old man from the Rossburn area and took him into custody. As a result circumstances and of breath test readings, the man was charged with Impaired Driving and Drive Over .08 and was released on an Appearance Notice to appear in Court on 2023-01-05.

Suspects break into mail boxes (96) at apartment complex

Several buildings in an apartment complex on Regent Crescent were broken into overnight on December 22nd to 23rd.  The main doors to the buildings were forced open and the suspects then broke into mail boxes in the lobby.  96 mail boxes were entered.  Canada Post has recovered any mail left out after the break ins.

“CRIME STOPPERS WANTED” for: December 23rd, 2022 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE” Laura Renee CHARTRAND (47 years) FOR Failing to Attend Court.  While on charge for several offences including Fraud, Uttering a Forged Document, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Theft, and Failing to Attend Court, the accused once again failed to attend court.  On December 15th, 2022, a warrant of arrest was issued for Laura CHARTRAND by the courts as her current whereabouts is unknown. ****************************************************************** CRIME OF THE WEEK for December 23rd, 2022 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a Theft Under $5000.  On November 17th, 2022, at approximately 5:40pm, a male suspect entered a business in the 900’ block of Victoria Ave.  Once inside, the suspect stole a quantity of meat and fled the store prior to police arrival.  The suspect was captured on video surveillance and is described as follows:  male, average build, wearing a black jacket, black hoodie, and grey pants. Photos of the suspect are attached to this release. Male suspect steals donation box from Brandon business

On December 17th, 2022 police received a report from a business that a male had stolen a donation box.  On December 19th, the same individual returned to the business and was arrested by police for the previously reported theft.  A 33 year old male has been released on conditions for a court date of January 23rd, 2023.
