Male suspect (29) arrested after attempting to sell stolen tools on FB Marketplace

On December 6, 2022, police received information that a suspect was selling stolen tools on Facebook Marketplace.  Arrangements were made to purchase the tools from the suspect in the 900 block of 18th street N.  The 29-year-old male suspect was also wanted on outstanding charges of Theft Under $5000. Police arrested the suspect when he arrived to sell the items.  He was in possession of the stolen tools, which were seized, and break-in instruments.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on new charges of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Possess Break-in instruments.

Man charged with aggravated assault after allegedly hitting female in the head with a cooking pan

On December 5, 2022, police responded to a report of an assault at a residence shortly after 4:00 pm.  Investigation revealed that an adult female victim had been struck in the head with a cooking pan before being locked outside.  The suspect also caused intentional damage to the walls and other property within the home. The 18-year-old male suspect fled the home prior to police arrival, but he was located and arrested nearby after a brief foot pursuit. The victim was treated in the hospital for her injuries.  The suspect was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Aggravated Assault, Mischief Under $5000, Unlawfully in a Dwelling, resist arrest.  He was also wanted on outstanding charges of Robbery, Fail to Comply with Release Order X2 and Fail to Comply with Probation. A second intoxicated male-youth who was in the home, but who did not participate in the assault or the damage to the home was also arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service until sober.  The 14-year-old male will receive a fine for Consume Liquor Under 18 Years.

Suspect arrested for biting finger during altercation

At 2:21 am, Police received a call of a disturbance in the 1000 block of 10th St. It was disclosed that a 22 year old male had gotten into an altercation with the resident and bit them in the finger and broke a window. The male was arrested and held until sober and will be released with a later court date.

Impaired Driving/Refusal

On December 1, 2022, police stopped a vehicle at 18th street N and HWY #1 at approximately 3:00 am.  The 40-year-old male driver displayed signs of intoxication and was arrested; however, he refused to provide a sample of his breath.  He was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will be released once sober to appear in court on December 12, 2022 on charges of Driving While Ability Impaired and Refuse to Provide Sample with Demand.

City of Brandon Planning & Buildings Department has launched "Our City Photo Contest” as part of the Brandon City Plan Project. Local photographers have submitted up to three (3) photos of Brandon. All members of the public are encouraged to vote on their favourite photo(s) submitted on the City’s Facebook account. Photos can also be viewed at brandon.ca/cityplan. Interested participants who do not have a Facebook account can email cityplan@brandon.ca with a subject of “Our City Photo Contest – Vote" and include the photo(s) they want to vote for. Voting period will run until December 16th, 2022 at 12:00 p.m., with the grand winner announced on Monday, December 19th, 2022. Questions on the “Our City Photo Contest” can be submitted to cityplan@brandon.ca.
