15-year-old female suspect arrested in connection to stabbing

Source: BPS News Release On October 17, 2022 at approximately 9:40 pm, police received a report that a group of approximately eight female youth were fighting near the exit of a business in the 900 block of Victoria Ave. One of the youth in the group dropped a knife, which was picked up by another youth who then used it to stab a 16-year-old female five times. The business was secured and members of BPS Major Crime Section and Forensic Identification Unit attended to investigate. The 15-year-old female suspect who assaulted the victim was arrested.  She was later released to a parent and will appear in court on December 6, 2022 on a charge of Aggravated Assault. The injuries the victim received were serious.  She was transported to the hospital to receive treatment, where she remains in stable condition.

Break and Enter Spree – South Central Brandon

Police received multiple reports of break and enters throughout the past week involving sheds, garages, and unlocked vehicles in the south central area of Brandon.  The break and enters are believed to have occurred between October 10th and October 16th, 2022.  No suspects have been identified; however, the incidents are believed to be connected.  Items stolen include various tools and personal identification.  Police continue to investigate. Police urge the public to ensure vehicles and outside sheds and garages are locked to help prevent these types of crimes.

Charter Bus Crashes into Semi

A Brandon Bus Lines charter bus crashed into the back of a car-hauler semi late Saturday night. The crash happened in front of the Murray’s dealership on Richmond Avenue The bus’s front wheels appear to have fallen off the side of the trailer, but thankfully the bus did not roll during the collision. It is unsure what caused the crash or if any injuries occurred.

Possession of a Weapon

At 8:40 PM Friday, officers were called to a disturbance in the rear lane of the 2000 block of Richmond Ave. The caller heard what they believed was a BB gun firing.  Embers attended and it appeared that a dispute was between two males.  There was no complaint of any assault, however during the investigation one of the subjects in the lane, a 19 year old Brandon male was found in possession of a Glock style BB handgun.  He was arrested for possession of a weapon and will be released once sober for court on December 12.

Attempted Robbery with a Weapon

Source: BPS News Release On October 13, 2022, police responded to a report of an attempted robbery at approximately 1:30 pm near the 1900 block of 1st street.  Investigation revealed that three male youth attempted to steal another male youth’s cell phone by punching him and spraying him with bear mace.  They were unsuccessful in getting the phone from the victim, who did not require medical attention. Police located and arrested two of the suspects.  The 14-year-old male and 15-year-old male were later released to their guardians, and will appear in court on November 29, 2022 on a charge of Attempted Robbery with a Weapon.  The third suspect has yet to be arrested.
