Work began in February 2022, to build a 30-year vision for the city called the Brandon City Plan. The Planning and Buildings Department has since held several community engagement sessions and interacted with over 2,000 residents. Through January to May 2023, we are sharing the summarized findings from these sessions and giving residents the opportunity to view these findings and to confirm the vision. The next step in the process involves a thorough review of feedback received and drafting of the Brandon City Plan document. Once drafted, it will be made available for public review in the Fall of 2023. On January 20, 2023, police conducted a traffic stop on a rental vehicle in the 1000 block of Princess Avenue.  During the stop, police located approximately 28 grams of cocaine, 28 grams of heroin, 10 grams of methamphetamine and $4,000 cash. A 23-year-old male from Abbotsford, British Columbia was arrested for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X3 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (Proceeds).  The male was lodged at Brandon Police Service and is scheduled to appear in court today.

The suspect was captured on video surveillance and photos of the suspect are attached to this release below.

On January 12, 2023, police received a report of a break and enter to a garage in the area of Valcourt Way. The suspect(s) gained entry and stole two firearms from a storage room in the garage. On January 18, 2023, members of the Brandon Police Service Major Crime Section executed a search warrant at a residence in the 1600 block of Sycamore Drive. During the search warrant, police recovered one of the firearms that had been stolen from the Break and Enter on Valcourt Way. A 29-year-old male has been arrested/charged with the following offences: Breaking and Entering to Steal a Firearm Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm Possession of a Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime Unsafe Storage of a Firearm A 30-year-old female has been arrested/charged with the following offences: Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm Possession of a Firearm Knowing it is Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm while Prohibited Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime Unsafe Storage of a Firearm The male and female were both lodged at Brandon Police Service and are scheduled to appear in court today.
