Police arrest male suspect in connection to stabbing incident in Brandon

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking

Source: BPS News Release On January 10, 2023, members of the Organized Crime Section and Crime Suppression Section executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence in Brandon. During the search police located a small quantity of methamphetamine and cash.  A 59-year-old male was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime (Proceeds).  He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in March 2023.

Suspect fills cart full of merchandise, leaves without paying

On January 9, 2023, police received a report of a theft from a business in the 1600 block of 18th Street.  A 34-year-old male had filled his shopping cart full of merchandise totaling over $1,100 and left the store without paying for the items.    The male was arrested for Theft Under $5,000.  He was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in March 2023.

Immediate Roadside Prohibition

On January 7, 2023, shortly after 10:00 am, police observed a vehicle drifting in a parking lot near the 1500 block of 18th street which caused them to conduct a traffic stop.  The driver, a 34-year-old male, had been consuming alcohol.  Police obtained two samples of his breath on approved screening devices which resulted in a fail.  The suspect’s vehicle was towed and he received an Immediate Roadside Prohibition.  He also receive fines under the Highway Traffic Act for Drive Carelessly and Fail to Comply with Conditions of License – 0 BAC.

Stolen Firearms Recovered

On January 3, 2023, police attended a residence in the 3300 block of McDonald Ave in search of a 45-year-old male with outstanding charges.  While investigating that incident, police observed two firearms in the residence.  The tenant was not authorized to possess the firearms.  As a result, police seized the firearms and a 28-year-old male was arrested and charged for Unauthorized Possession of Firearms. On January 4, 2023, Brandon Police Service received a report of a Break, Enter and Theft from a residence in the 2000 block of 26th Street.  Six firearms were reported stolen from the residence.  During the investigation, police were able to confirm that the two firearms seized from McDonald Ave were stolen from the residence on 26th Street. On January 5, 2023, members of the Brandon Police Service Major Crime Unit and Patrol Division executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of 16th Street.  During the search warrant, police recovered the four remaining firearms that had been stolen from the Break and Enter on 26th Street. As a result of the thorough investigation conducted by the Brandon Police Service Patrol Division, Forensic Identification Unit and the Major Crime Unit, police were able to successfully recover the six stolen firearms and prevent them from entering the streets of Brandon. A 29-year-old female and a 32-year-old male have been arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime x4, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm x4, and Careless Storage of a Firearm x4.  The female was later released and is scheduled to appear in court in March 2023. The male was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today.  Additional charges are expected in relation to the two firearms that were seized from the residence on McDonald Ave.  Police continue to investigate the Break and Enter. Firearms and jewelry reported stolen from Brandon residence

On January 4, 2023, police received a report of a break and enter to a residence in the 2000 block of 26th Street.  The suspect(s) gained entry and stole numerous firearms and jewelry from the residence.
