Brandon Source for Sports will be undergoing a branding and logo overhaul. Joel Whiteside from Source for Sports told BDNMB.CA that after 20 years the company felt it was time for an upgrade to change the logo. Prior to being Source for Sports the company was known as Sports Excellence which was owned by Rod Klassen. Meltwich is still in the process of building the inside and being prepared for an opening soon. Calls from BDNMB.CA to Meltwich have been unanswered. Midway Palooza is now in the process of looking for a new home. Spokesperson for Midway Palooza Farran Munn said they are looking to rent a large paved spot that will be easy for people to find in May 2023. ABrandon.ca a new locally based website that will focus basically with online classifieds from boats to houses to cars and everything else. Paul Braccio told BDNMB.CA that they hope to be fully operational by the end of Feb 2023. Fast Fired Pizza in the Corral Centre has re-opened after some air conditioning issues. Cormier Media's location on 1st and Richmond has closed and a new business has moved in. BDNMB.CA is waiting for more details. Romana Pizza has recently changed ownership. Who the new owners are have not been disclosed to date.

Brandon police arrest armed robbery suspect

Source: BPS News Release On Friday morning, officers were called to a residence in the 300 block of 2nd St for a disturbance.  A 34 year old male of Sioux Valley was there and the resident was concerned for his safety. Further investigation revealed the same 34 year old male had been at this residence on Thursday night.  At that time the suspect pulled knife on the tenant and demanded money.  The suspect then left after getting a small quantity of cash.  The male was arrested for armed robbery, without further confrontation.  He was transported to the Brandon Police Service where he will be held until court later today.

“CRIME STOPPERS WANTED” for: October 7th, 2022 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE” Joshua George BEAUDRY (44 yrs) FOR Possession of Stolen Catalytic Converters, Fraud, and Failing to Attend Court In July of 2022, Joshua BEAUDRY was charged for possessing stolen catalytic converters and fraud.  On September 27th, 2022, he failed to attend court regarding these charges.  A warrant for his arrest has been issued by the courts as his whereabouts is unknown at this time. ****************************************************************** CRIME OF THE WEEK for October 7th, 2022 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a Theft of License Plates.  On October 4th, at approximately 11:00am, a male suspect stole the front and rear license plates from a vehicle parked in the 1200’ block of Rosser Ave.  The incident was captured on surveillance video and the suspect is described as follows: Male with light skin, medium to heavy build, short hair and balding, wearing a grey t-shirt and dark jeans. Numerous Voting Options Available For Municipal Election 2022

With less than one month remaining until the October 26th municipal election, the City of Brandon’s Senior Elections Official would like to inform the voting public of the numerous opportunities being provided to assist them in casting their ballot. Brandon residents will vote to elect the Mayor and City Councillor representatives in Wards 1, 2, 3, 5, 8 and 10 in next month’s election. Council members in Wards 4, 6, 7 and 9 have been filled by acclamation. A full list of official Councillor candidates can be found on the Brandon Votes website at brandonvotes.ca. The October 26th election will also see the selection of eight candidates (City-wide) to serve on the Brandon School Board of Trustees for the 2022-2026 term of office, with the board’s rural ward representative already acclaimed. A list of registered trustee candidates can also be viewed at brandonvotes.ca. For residents who opt to cast their ballot ahead of Election Day, advance voting opportunities will be available on the following days: Wednesday, October 12           8:00 am – 8:00 pm     at City Hall, 410 – 9th Street Thursday, October 20               10:00 am – 8:00 pm    at City Hall, 410 – 9th Street Saturday, October 22               10:00 am – 6:00 pm    at Pioneer Lounge, Keystone Centre An eligible voter may also apply in writing or in person to vote by sealed envelope ballot if they have reason to believe that they will be unable to vote at their regular voting place on Election Day or during advance voting opportunities. Application to vote by sealed ballot can be made in writing or in person to the City of Brandon Senior Elections Official at Brandon City Hall (410-9th Street). Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Meth

On October 5, 2022 shortly before 9:00 pm, police observed a 56-year-old male suspect sell illicit drugs to another individual in the 100 block of Princess Ave.  Further investigation into the suspect lead police to locate and seize over 12 oz. of Meth and cash.  The suspect was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court today on charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Meth, Possess Proceeds of Crime and Fail to Comply with Release Order.
