Suspect charged with Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On November 1, 2021, police responded to a report of an MVA in the 400 block of 10th street, which occurred at approximately 9:30 pm. The suspect vehicle rear-ended the complainant’s vehicle causing extensive damage while the two vehicles were in a drive-thru.  The suspect then exited their vehicle, approached the complainant’s vehicle and kicked the side view mirror off.  The suspect then drove over the curbing and left the scene. Investigation led police to locate and arrest the 34-year-old male suspect and the suspect vehicle.  He was later released to appear in court on January 1, 2022 on charges of Mischief Under, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Fail to Stop at the Scene of Accident.

Intoxicated teen smashes window with hammer

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On October 31, 2021 at approx. 4:15 am, police received a report of an intoxicated female in the 600 blk Douglas St. She had just smashed a window using a hammer. Police attended and located a 19 year old female in the street, still in possession of the hammer. She was intoxicated. She was arrested and lodged until sober. She was later released on an undertaking to appear in court on Dec 23, 2021 on charges of Mischief Under $5000

Female arrested for alleged assault at school volleyball game

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On Thursday, October 28th, a female youth was charged for assaulting another female youth while at a school volleyball game on Wednesday, October 27th. The victim was not seriously injured. The female youth was located by police and was arrested without incident and will appear in Court on Tuesday December 7 th to answer to the charge.

Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking charges laid

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On Thursday October 28th, Police attended the area of 000 blk of Wankling Blvd after stopping a vehicle which was first reported stolen by the The Pas RCMP. A 23 year old Brandon female was arrested for Take Motor Vehicle without Owners Consent and also had a Warrant for her arrest for Breach of a Conditional Sentence Order. The female will appear in Court in the am.  A 52 yr old Brandon male who was located near the vehicle was arrested after police located approximately 8.8 grams of meth in his possession. The male will appear in court on Thursday, 6th January 2022.  A search of the recovered vehicle by Police Service Dog discovered approximately 10 grams of Meth.  A 30 year old female from Maruis, MB and a 47year old female from Brandon who were the occupants of the vehicle were charged with the Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking.  Both were released on Undertakings and will appear in Court on Monday November 1st to answer to the charge.

Olivia the Brave Park Fundraiser

A park in Brookwood subdivision, in Brandon is being named after Olivia Baessler, Olivia the Brave Park, who passed in October 2020. Olivia was four years old when she passed away and was known as the first person in Canada to receive a new throat therapy that used magnets back in 2017.
