Flamingos take over lawns in support of the Kinsmen Club of Brandon

Are you looking for a unique way to recognize a birthday, anniversary, job promotion or special occasion? Why not consider a flock of pink flamingos from the Kinsmen Club of Brandon. Imagine how excited your friends or family will be when they wake up to find pink flamingos covering their front yard. Photo: Kinsemen Club of Brandon Flocking your friends and family can be fun and exciting! The Kinsmen Club of Brandon starting flocking homes/yards in Brandon and area in late October of 2020, as they were looking for an alternative way of fundraising for their various charity initiatives. The volunteer driven organization has completed nearly 75 such flockings since its inception. The club now has 4-sets of 25 flamingos at their disposal and have left as few as 11 flamingos on a yard to a high of 72. For a $50 donation, they will place 25 bright pink flamingos on a residential lawn. Additional flamingos are $2 per flamingo. In addition to being a fun and inexpensive way to celebrate, it's hassle free as the Kinsmen Club takes care of set up and take down. Proceeds from March & April's flockings will be donated to the Samaritan Home Safe and Warm Shelter expansion. Teen accused of impaired driving

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On April 4, 2021 at approx. 11:10 AM police received a report of a passed out male in a vehicle in the 2200 blk Pacific Ave. Police attended and located a 19 year old male in a running vehicle. He was arrested for being in care and control while impaired and brought to the police station. He provided samples of his breath, which resulted in reading over the legal limit. He was released to appear in court on April 12, 2021 on charges of Care and Control while impaired and Care and Control while over .08

Police: Traffic stop turns up meth

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approx. 3:00 AM today, police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the 2000 block of Rosser Ave.  As a result of the investigation officers seized 80 grams of Meth with an estimated street value of $8000, from within the vehicle.  The 34-year-old female from Douglas MB and a 78-year-old male of rural Brandon have been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking Meth.  They will appear in court on June 10.

Building Destroyed by Fire East of Brandon

Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and RCMP responded to a structure fire off of Veterans Way about a mile and a half east of Chater.  The building, which appeared to maybe be a house, was completely engulfed in flames. Black smoke could be seen from as far away as Brandon. No word yet on the cause of the fire or if there were any injuries. Three arrested after police execute search warrant in Brandon

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approx. 10 PM Friday, members of the Operational Support and Crime Suppression Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of 9th St.  Members seized a small quantity of cocaine, $2500 in cash and items indicative of drug trafficking from the residence. A 40-year-old Brandon male was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession the proceeds of crime.  A 44-year-old Brandon female was also arrested for those same charges as well as breaching a release order. Both these accused were held in custody and will appear in court later today.   A second female, a 26 year old from Brandon was located at the residence and found to be the subject of a warrant for failing to comply with her probation order.   She was arrested and later released with a court date of June 3.
