Police Tactical Unit conducts police operation in the 3500 block of Willowdale Crescent

Earlier this afternoon at around 5:00pm, Brandon Police Service's Tactical Response Unit was conducting a police operation in the 3500 block of Willowdale Crescent. Police officers in tactical gear and armed with rifles were seen pointing their weapons at a second floor apartment. Police used the loud speaker on the Armoured Rescue Vehicle to attempt to communicate with the occupants inside. Officers could be heard telling the occupants to "come out with your hands up" multiple times.  After over half an hour with no contact with occupants inside, police deployed a remote controlled robot which climbed up the stairs to the door of the apartment. Shortly after the robot made it up the stairs, two occupants exited the apartment with their hands above their heads.  Once they made their way down the stairs, the two occupants of the apartment could be seen kissing as police continued communications with the pair. Both occupants were placed in handcuffs and put into police vehicles. Tactical officers appeared to conduct a search of the apartment before the scene was released, and traffic was able to flow again. No word yet on why police were there, and what happened.  At least three people were taken away in police vehicles.
