Kids Deliver for Sunrise Credit Union Adopt-a-Grandparent Program

Brandon, Manitoba – Hundreds of children in Southwestern Manitoba answered the call to bring a little cheer to those living in personal care and retirement homes this Christmas. Sunrise Credit Union initiated operation ‘Adopt-a-Grandparent’ in late November, inviting schools in several communities to have their students produce handcrafted Christmas cards. The students decorated, coloured and wrote a message on the cards. The response to the initiative was overwhelming, with more than 2,000 Christmas cards returned. The cards are being randomly distributed to more than 35 Personal Care Homes, Retirement Residences and similar facilities across Southwestern Manitoba. Photo Submitted “This holiday season presents opportunities to spread peace and joy to those around us. Sunrise was honoured to be the conduit to spread some Christmas cheer between children and retirees.” said Sunrise Credit Union VP of Wealth and Marketing Tayona Johnas, “We were thrilled with the response we received and hope this gesture will be uplifting to those that receive the cards." Sunrise Credit Union followed proper protocols and Shared Health Manitoba guidelines. The cards will be delivered to facilities by the end of the week, and residents should be able to enjoy them during Christmas week. Photo Submitted (submitted article)
