Firefighters Extricate Driver from Rolled Car

Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and Blue Hills RCMP responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on Veterans Way (Highway 457) just west of the Eastern Access (Highway 110) junction. The small red car had left the roadway, rolled through a large ditch, and came to rest on its roof on the upward slope of the ditch. The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and unable to get out. Firefighter/Paramedics used extrication tools to remove the occupant from the vehicle. Miraculously the driver was able to walk away from the crash uninjured.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered- Suspect Arrested

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On September 29, 2020, police received a report of a stolen vehicle from the 700 block of Percy Street in the early morning hours. At 9:39 am, police received information from Onstar that the vehicle was located via GPS trace near the 2000 block of Queens Ave. Further investigation led police to discover the suspect nearby. The 21-year-old male was arrested and lodged at Brandon Police Service. He appeared in court later that day on several charges including Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possess Weapon, Fail to Comply with Undertaking, and Fail to Comply with Probation.

Man, 33, charged after police officer assaulted

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 4:20 a.m. today, a resident in the area of the 800 block of 9th Street reported a male in the backyard causing a disturbance. Officers attended, and the male who was under the influence of methamphetamine punched one of the officers in the face. A 33-year-old male of no fixed address is charged with assaulting a peace officer and resisting arrest. He appeared in court today and has been remanded in custody.

Delivery driver sprayed with bear spray, robbed of cell phone, police say

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At 7:05 a.m. yesterday, two unknown suspects robbed a delivery driver in the area of 9th Street and Park Avenue. The victim had his cellular phone stolen and was sprayed with bear spray. The two unknown suspects are described as Indigenous in appearance, approximately 5’10” in height, approximately 17 to 19 years of age. Both suspects wore dark hoodies and jeans, and fled the area on foot.

Man charged with sex crimes

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On Thursday, Police arrested a 40-year-old man from Brandon for Sexual Assault X2, Sexual Interference and Luring a Child by Telecommunication. Police entered into an investigation on September 21st after receiving a report that the suspect sexually assaulted a female youth. The investigation revealed that the suspect and victim met on a social media site and the suspect invited the victim to his residence where he is alleged to have forced intercourse on the youth. During the course of investigation, Police were alerted that in July the suspect allegedly sexually assaulted a different female youth. The suspect was lodged at the Police Service and as scheduled to appear in Court on Friday.
