The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is “WANTED BY POLICE”: Julian BRANDON FOR Assault, Possess Weapon, Carry Concealed Weapon.  On April 18th, 2024, Julian BRANDON was arrested and released for assaulting a security officer after punching him in the face inside a business located in the 100 block of 7th Street. BRANDON was also arrested and released prior to this incident in February, for Possession of a Weapon and Carry a Concealed Weapon as he was in possession of a machete inside a Brandon business. Julian BRANDON’s whereabouts are unknown currently, please contact Brandon crime stoppers with any information. Brandon Police Service Media Release September 18, 2024

Sexual Assault/ Sexual Interference/ Supply Liquor to Minor On July 24th, 2024, a 13-year-old female reported being sexually assaulted on July 22nd, 2024, at an unknown location after the 30-year-old male suspect allegedly gave alcohol to her and her friend. The investigation led to the arrest of the 30-year-old male. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date of November 25th, 2024.    Theft Under $5000 – RCMP Warrant of Arrest On September 17th at 2:46PM police responded to a report of an assault in the 2700 block of McDonald Avenue. There was no complaint upon police arrival; however, a 45-year-old male was present and wanted on an outstanding RCMP Warrant of Arrest. He was arrested and held in detention cells due to intoxication level. He will be released on an Appearance Notice once sober.   Failure to Attend Court On September 17th a pedestrian stop was initiated in the 0 hundred block of 10th Street. A confirmation of identity resulted in verifying the 37-year-old female had an unendorsed warrant held by BPS. She was arrested, held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on September 18th, 2024.   Resisting Arrest / Public Mischief / Failure to Comply On September 17th a report of people drinking on New Era School grounds came in at 2:09AM. One of the subjects provided a false name and then fled on foot. The 16-year-old female was apprehended in the 300 block of 8th Street. The female had an unendorsed warrant and was also on a release order with conditions of curfew and abstain. Charges now pending are Failure to Comply with Undertaking, Failure to Comply with Release Order X2, Resisting Arrest and Public Mischief. She was arrested and held in detention cells and will attend court in the morning on September 18th, 2024.

Traffic Alert 18th Street Reconstruction Starts Tomorrow

The City of Brandon is working in coordination with the Province of Manitoba and their partners to provide updates regarding 18th Street Reconstruction Project.  18th Street Reconstruction Alert Starting tomorrow, September 18th, Zenith Paving Ltd. will begin milling and placing new asphalt on 18th Street from Aberdeen Ave to Rosser Ave. The project will be completed in stages. Expect minor concrete repairs, asphalt milling, and paving.   Stage 1 – Rosser Ave to Louise Ave Southbound Stage 2 – Louise Ave to McTavish Ave Southbound Stage 3 – McTavish Ave to Park Ave Southbound Stage 4 – Park Ave to McTavish Ave Northbound Stage 5 – McTavish Ave to Louise Ave Northbound Stage 6 – Louise Ave to Rosser Ave Northbound Stage 7 – Park Ave to Queens Ave Southbound Stage 8 – Queens Ave to Park Ave Northbound Stage 9 – Queens Ave to Aberdeen Ave Southbound Stage 10 – Aberdeen Ave to Queens Ave Northbound Key Notes: Work will progress from Rosser Ave to Queens Ave, both southbound and northbound in sections. Please drive safely and avoid the area if possible.  It is especially important to keep children and pets away from construction areas. Business access will be maintained, but driveway access may be restricted at times. Please reach out to specific businesses for more information.

Woman arrested for theft and concealed weapons after string of robberies

On Saturday, September 14th an employee from the 1500 block of 18th Street reported a female who came into their store, took an “armful” of various items and left in a taxi. On Sunday, September 15th the suspect was located by police walking out of a building in the 100 block of 10th Street. A search upon arrest resulted in finding a knife and an imitation Glock handgun from the suspect’s purse. The surveillance obtained and items recovered revealed thefts from four Brandon stores with quantities of $1600 from store 1 and $1000 from store 2 which were recovered. The suspect was also identified as responsible for $1000 of items stolen from store 3 and approximately $800 stolen from store 4 – of which these items were not recovered. The 34-year-old female was arrested then later released on an Undertaking with a court date of November 6th, 2024.

Male who appeared to be disrobing arrested and ticketed

On September 13th at 12:30AM police conducted a stop in front of a business in the 1200 block of Princess Avenue with a male who appeared to be disrobing after buying goods. He was belligerent and uncooperative. He was arrested and held in detention cells and will be released once sober with an Appearance Notice for court on November 18th, 2024. Charged with Resisting Arrest and ticketed for Disorderly Conduct at Licensed Premises and Unlawful Transportation of Liquor in a Vehicle.
