Suspect arrested for stabbing

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On September 13, 2020, police responded to multiple witness reports of several individuals covered in blood in the area of Evergreen Blvd at approximately 4:14 pm. Police located one individual nearby who had been stabbed three times in the upper body. The 22-year-old male victim was transported by ambulance to BRHC, where he received treatment and is expected to make a full recovery. Police located the 44-year-old female suspect nearby and arrested her. She was lodged at Brandon Police Service and will appear in court on November 30, 2020 on a charge of Assault with a Weapon. The investigation revealed that the suspect and the victim were known to one another.

BSD: confirmed COVID-19 case at École New Era School

Public Health has advised the Brandon School Division of a confirmed case of COVID-19 in a 5/6 multi-age classroom at École New Era School. The Brandon School Division and École New Era School are working closely with public health officials and following their recommendations. Be assured that Public Health investigations to identify individuals who may have been exposed begin within 24 hours of a confirmed laboratory test. Anyone identified as a close contact is contacted and provided instructions for self-isolation (quarantine). Testing may also be recommended. Based on the public health investigation, this exposure was assessed to be very low risk. The individual attended school for a limited time while asymptomatic. Parents/Guardians of children who attended class with the case have been contacted by Public Health. At this time, no close contacts have been identified at École New Era School. No one is required to self-isolate from this exposure. The case was not acquired at school. Out of an abundance of caution, the Brandon School Division is having École New Era School thoroughly deep cleaned over the weekend and will be ready for the students and staff on Monday. The Brandon School Division along with all the schools in the Division will continue to follow the recommendations of Public Health during this pandemic. (Brandon School Division Media Release)

Brandon police arrest 2 males for breaking car windows with a baseball bat

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Police arrested two males 21 and 25 years old in the downtown area who were breaking car windows with a baseball bat.  The males are believed to have broke numerous windows throughout the area.  They have been held in custody to be released once sober.

Accused facing numerous charges after fleeing from police on Victoria Ave

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release A 26-year-old Brandon Male is charged with Impaired Driving, Drive over .08, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Flight from Police. The Accused fled from Police on Victoria Avenue westbound out of the city. Police terminated the pursuit for public safety reasons. Police observed the accused re-enter the city on 50th Street where he drove north to the river where the vehicle became disabled. The Accused fled from the vehicle and was located hiding along the muddy riverbank. He will be appearing in court September 17th.

Suspect charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Meth

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approximately 7:30 P.M., members of the Organized Crime Unit while engaged in an investigation of drug trafficking arrested a 27-year-old man from Winnipeg during a traffic stop in the north end of the city. A search of the suspect recovered approximately 4 ounces of Methamphetamine and $4100 cash. The estimated street value of seized drugs is $11,000. The man is scheduled to appear in court this morning charged with Possession for the Purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine and Possession of Proceeds of Crime.
