Police respond to machete attack at downtown hotel

Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon and Fail to Comply with a Court Order On Friday afternoon, police responded to a downtown hotel for a male who had been attacked with a machete.  He sustained injuries to his hand a face and was transported by ambulance to the hospital with non-life threating injuries. The investigation discovered the victim had been assaulted at a different location and came to the hotel for help.  A 36 y/o male was located and arrested, he will be held for Court on Saturday.  It is believed that neither party involved knew each other. Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon Friday morning, police responded to a central Brandon residence for a disturbance.  Once at the residence, police discovered a 31y/o had sustained a stab wound to his hand.  A 26 y/o female was arrested and charged.  Both parties were known to each other.  The female was released with a Court date.

Male suspect arrested and charged with Access, Possession, and Distribution of Child Pornography

On August 1st at 7:35AM police executed a search warrant in the 400 block of 4th Street in relation to a Cyber Tip initiated child pornography investigation. A 40-year-old man was arrested and charged with Access, Possession, and Distribution of Child Pornography along with Possession of Meth. A court date is set for October 10th, 2024. A 27-year-old man was on location and found to have an endorsed Warrant of Arrest. His charges are Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Possession of Meth. His court dates are October 10th, 2024, as well as court in Winnipeg October 9th, 2024. Drugs were seized as were electronic devices for analysis.

Four incidents in 24 hours pertaining to alcohol

  Failure to Comply On July 31st ongoing communication between a party of three, went against several release order conditions resulted in the arrest of a 28-year-old male, a 59-year-old male and a 56-year-old woman. The 28-year-old male has a court date set for July 31st, 2024, while the other two have a court date set for October 24th, 2024.  Intoxicated Person On July 31st at 9:09PM police were called to Shoppers Mall where an intoxicated female was causing a disturbance. Members attended and a 32-year-old female was arrested to prevent further issues and lodged overnight. She will be released once sober. Impaired Driving On July 31st at 9:45PM police conducted a vehicle stop in the 600 block of 12th Street. Driver presented signs consistent with impairment by alcohol and failed ASD device. The 37-year-old male argued the reading and was arrested and transported to BRHC to provide blood sample. Samples taken and charges pending. Vehicle towed.  Impaired Driving On August 1st at 5:25AM police conducted a vehicle stop in the 300 block of 5th Street. The driver fled from the vehicle and a foot pursuit ensued. The driver was apprehended in the 300 block of 4th Street. The 23-year-old male exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested. He was later released with a court date of August 8th, 2024. Breach of Release Order (Curfew) On July 31st at 11:00PM police attended a residence in the 300 block of Dennis Street. A 13-year-old female had breached a Release Order and missed curfew for the second time in two days. Arrested and lodged for court in the morning on August 1st, 2024. Intoxicated Person / Minor Consumption On August 1st at 3:52AM patrol unit found highly intoxicated youth walking on 1st Street and McTavish Avenue. A 15-year-old male was lodged and later released to a caregiver.

“CRIME STOPPERS WANTED” for August 1, 2024 The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE”  Lesterlynn COOK FOR Theft Under $500 & Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.  On May 27, 2024, Lesterlynn COOK, stole merchandise from a business located in the 900 block of 18th Street North. When COOK was arrested, she had in her possession a stolen credit card. COOK has failed to attend court and her whereabouts are unknown at this time, please contact Brandon crime stoppers with any information. Break and Enter with Intent, Possession of Meth, Failure to Comply with Release Order

July 31 Brandon Police Service Media Release Structure / Vehicle Fire On July 30th at 1:42PM police (and fire) responded to a report of a vehicle fire at White Swan Trailer Court. The fire had spread to the trailer. Minimal damage done to the home, and no one was injured. Failure to Comply / Possession of a Weapon/ Carrying a Concealed Weapon On July 30th at 2:39PM police observed a 22-year-old male on a cell phone in the 1000 block of Victoria Avenue, contrary to a release order not to be in possession of one. He was also found to be in possession of a can of bear mace. His cell phone was password protected, contained a camera, contained social media apps, and had an internet data connection contrary to his conditions. He was arrested on charges of Failure to Comply with Release Order X5, Possession of a Weapon, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. He was lodged for court in the morning on July 31st, 2024.  Assault On July 30th at 2:47PM police received a call indicating that a 34-year-old male was wanting to comply with police regarding domestic assault allegations from the previous evening. He was arrested at 5:15PM and lodged for court in the morning on July 31st, 2024. Theft On July 30th at 6:40PM a business in the 900 block of 18th Street reported a male and female stole a pair of shoes. Based on the descriptions given police were able to locate the individuals in the 800 block of Rosser Avenue. They had the stolen item with them as well as two Bluetooth speakers they admitted to stealing from a different local business. The 29-year-old male and 35-year-old female were released on an Undertaking with a court date of October 17th, 2024. Intoxicated Person X2 On July 30th police responded to two different calls of intoxicated individuals causing a disturbance. The calls resulted in a 27-year-old male as well as a 56-year-old male being arrested. In both circumstances the males were lodged to prevent further disturbance. They will be released once sober. Break and Enter with Intent / Possession of Meth / Failure to Comply with Release Order On July 30th at 10:53PM police received a call of a break and enter in the 1200 block of 4th Street. Video footage was given to police. The suspect was wearing gloves while in the building and tried to open the safe. The 33-year-old male was found and arrested nearby. Once arrested he was found to have 8 grams of meth. He is on conditions not to possess drugs. He was arrested with court scheduled in the morning on July 31st, 2024.
