Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On Friday afternoon, Brandon Police and BFES attended a structure fire in the downtown area. The police investigation identified two suspects, a 39-year-old male and a 47-year-old female, both from Brandon. On Saturday morning, the two suspects were located by police and taken into custody without incident. They will both be held for a bail hearing.

Male robbed of his vehicle while fueling up, police say

Source: Brandon police Service Media Release At 11:30 pm, a male was fueling his vehicle at a convenience store on Victoria Avenue when he was approached by a male claiming to have a handgun, threatened to shoot the victim and then stole the victim’s vehicle. The vehicle was located in the 3500 block of Willowdale and the male suspect was located in a residence in the area. The 25-year-old Brandon male was arrested without incident and lodged for court in the morning. No handgun was located.

Police lay impaired driving charges after vehicle strikes guardrail

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approx. 2:15 AM today a passerby reported coming upon a motor vehicle collision on 1st St North.  Officers attended to the area to find a 2019 Toyota Corolla caught up on top of the guardrail of the bridge over the Assiniboine River, in the southbound on 1st St.  It appeared the 26-year-old female driver from Toronto Ontario, had lost control of the vehicle as she drove southbound.  She hit approximately 12 guardrail posts before coming to rest on top of the rail.  Officers attending noted the driver to be displaying signs of impairment; therefore she was arrested on scene. The driver provided two samples of her breath, which resulted in readings in excess of one and a half times the legal limit.  She has been charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol level over .08.  The accused was held in custody and will appear in court later this morning.

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release On April 7, 2020 at approximately 2:00 am, police received a report of an assault. Two individuals, known to one another engaged in a fight. One of the suspects was in possession of a set of brass knuckles. Both individuals sustained minor injuries. A 44-year-old male suspect was arrested and will appear in court on a later date on charges of Assault, and Possess Prohibited Weapon. A 31-year-old female suspect was arrested and will appear in court on a later date on charges of Assault with a Weapon, and Possess Prohibited Weapon.

Overnight Fire Destroys Home on Braecrest Drive

Shortly before 3:00 on Monday morning, Brandon Fire & Emergency Services and Brandon Police Service responded to the corner of Braecrest Drive and 1st Street North for a report of a fully-involved structure fire. Firefighter/paramedics arrived to find a single family dwelling with heavy fire coming from throughout the home. Fire crews made an attack on the fire from the yard before moving inside the house. A fire hydrant at the corner of 1st St. N and Braecrest Dr. was utilized for a water supply. Manitoba Hydro also responded to the scene to help shut off utilities. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, and it is currently under investigation.
