Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release Police received a report of a Break and Enter in progress to a west end apartment at approximately 3:00 am. When police arrived at the apartment, the two suspects were still inside. Police confirmed that the apartment was vacant, and nobody should be inside. Police arrested a 45-year-old male for Break and Enter, as well as Breach OIC Undertaking for communicating with the other male, while on orders not to communicate. Police lodged him at Brandon Correctional Centre. He will appear in court today. Police also arrested a 21-year-old male for Break and Enter who was lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre due to his intoxication level. He will appear on court on August 8, 2019.

A total of $1.7 million in grants (Building Sustainable Communities Program) was announced Tuesday to support 24 different initiatives in the province. The Manitoba government will provide funding for two community projects in Brandon. The East End Community Centre will receive $75,000 for outdoor rink upgrades and the Brandon Riverbank will receive $75,000 to add solar LED off-grid pathway lighting. From today's release. “The province is committed to supporting projects that will meet the needs of communities while reducing red tape, simplifying access and reducing program administration,” said Wharton.  “Our goal is to transform and modernize grant funding in order to increase community capacity and promote sustainability in non-profit organizations as well as increase positive outcomes.”

Brandon, MB – Brandon Riverbank welcomes new Canadian citizens! An official citizenship ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 12 on the brand new Festival Park stage on the grounds of Brandon Riverbank. Up to 60 candidates are expected to be sworn in during the ceremony, which will be conducted by the federal Department of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship. The ceremony is due to start at 1 p.m. and is expected to take about an hour. During the ceremony, the national anthem will be performed by Sandy Jasper, a well known Brandon resident who has performed the anthem on many occasions including sporting events and fairs. Also during the ceremony several dignitaries will welcome the new Canadians and there will be an official swearing in of the new citizens. The public are welcome to attend and there is no charge. Light refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the ceremony inside the Riverbank Discovery Centre. Photo and video are permitted during the ceremonies.  

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approximately 9:15 pm, police received a call of a neighbourhood disturbance in which a 21-year-old female was the problem. While attending a birthday party of a family member, the female proceeded to become quite intoxicated. She made obscene and threatening gestures to people in the neighbourhood, including, mooning them and flipping the bird. Police learned that she is on orders, not to communicate with individuals in attendance to the party, not to attend the residence, and not to consume alcohol. She was arrested for the breaches and lodged at Brandon Correctional Centre. She will appear in court today.

Source: Brandon Police Service Media Release At approximately 3:30 am, police took a 21-year-old female into custody after repeatedly interacting with her beginning at 9:00 pm. Throughout the evening, police attempted to leave her in the care of responsible adults; however, they were unable to control her outbursts. The final straw occurred when the female showed up at Brandon Police Service and proceeded to throw a rock at a parked cruiser. She was lodged to prevent any offences from occurring.
