Suspect arrested for allegedly striking acquaintance with a needle

On the evening of 2024-06-15, police responded to the 200 block of Mcdiarmid Drive as a 51-year-old male victim reported that he was confronted by another male that was known to him.  During the incident, the victim received two puncture wounds to the side of his neck due to being struck with a needle.  Pre-cautionary medical treatment was received by the victim, and on 2024-06-23, the accused was located by police at his residence.  The 45-year-old male suspect has been released with conditions to appear in court 2024-06-25 for the charge of Assault with a Weapon.

Vincent Massey High School Students Excel in Chemistry Contests

CHEM 13 NEWS EXAM sponsored by the University of Waterloo, is designed for Grade 12 high school students who are in their senior level Chemistry course. This year, on May 9th, Vincent Massey High School Students competed amongst 1834 of the top high school students in the United States, Canada, and other prominent international schools in the Annual University of Waterloo Chemistry Exam competition. Vincent Massey is proud to recognize David Afolami who scored in the top 8% in North America and the top 13% in the world. As well as Danyal Mehdi who scored in the top 10% in North America and top 16% in the world. David and Danyal received a certificate of distinction and a limited-edition plaque featuring an element from the Timeline of Elements poster for their outstanding achievements. In addition, Lauren Gustafson and John Sui were awarded Certificate of Distinction for securing top 20% of exam takers in Canada. Many of the students obtained an overall score higher than world average.     CANADIAN CHEMISTRY CONTEST sponsored by the Chemical Institute of Canada, fosters an appreciation of Chemistry as a Career for talented young people and promotes national excellence in Chemistry at the High School level. Vincent Massey students participated in the annual contest on April 23rd and we are proud to recognize David Afolami and Lauren Gustafson who secured 10th and 11th rank respectively in the “Prairies Region’’.

Possession of a Weapon , Consumption of alcohol in a public place

On June 20th at 8:34am police were called to the Daly Bridge where a male was walking carrying a machete and a bottle of alcohol. A 53 year old male was located and arrested. He has since been released with a court date of July 29th, 2024.

The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating this person who is: “WANTED BY POLICE”: Sydney DANIELS-CAMERON FOR Sexual Assault & Fail to Attend Court.  On May 16, 2023, Sydney DANIELS-CAMERON sexually assaulted a female inside a Brandon residence. DANIELS-CAMERON also has an outstanding warrant for Mischief to property that occurred on May 13, 2023. DANIELS-CAMERON’s whereabouts are unknown at this time, please contact Brandon crime stoppers with any information. ******** The Brandon Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in solving a Break & Enter. On June 16, 2024, a male broke into a residence in the 400 block of 7th street. The male was scared off by the home owner but not before stealing a purse and all its contents. Robbery with a Weapon

On June 18th at 11:27am police were called to an establishment on Middleton Avenue reporting a robbery. A male had pulled a knife demanding all the money in the till. Upon receiving approximately $300 cash he fled on foot. Brandon Police K-9 unit tracked the male to a nearby establishment. Video footage confirmed the suspect going into the secondary location and emerged in different clothing. Police arrested a 24 year old male. He was found to be in breach of his release order stating he must live in Winnipeg, must notify the court of any changes, and must not be in possession of any weapons. He was held in custody with court on June 19th, 2024.
